Kilimanjaro Crater

A lonely male hiker is descending after sunrise at the edge of the crater from the summit of Mount Meru (4.562 mt,, 14.967 ft.) in Tanzania. The area is famous for hiking and to get acclimated for further hikes on Mount Kilimanjaro which is visible in the distance.

CRATER CAMP “JEWEL IN KILIMANJARO’S CROWN”

Crater Camp is a unique place. At 18,865 feet above sea level, it is the highest campsite on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is located just 475 feet below the summit. We offer the opportunity to stay at Crater Camp on the Lemosho and Northern Circuit routes.

The inner crater is about 4265 feet in diameter and is also known as the Reusch Crater. Inside it you can see the third crater disappearing into the ground. This one is known as the Ash Pit, and is just 459 feet wide.

This option will add one day to the standard itineraries making them the 9 Lemosho Crater Route and 10 day Northern Crater Route.
